Beta opportunity for Secret World

The Secret World website darkdaysarecoming now has a test to see which 'faction?' you belong to, it also states that by supplying your info you enter the draw to participate in beta, I'm intrigued so I signed up and came out as a Dragon.

    P.s. I just received my per-order codes for Aion. I wasn't expecting NCSoft to have actually set pre-order stuff up with a Dutch company, but they did. ANy intel yet on which server the Mutants are going to pick?

    Let's hope we get to give the beta a look, I expect we will see alot more during PAX about this game, funcom have announced we should expect significant news.

    No idea yet what server MU are rolling on, the open beta starts this sunday @ 5pm BST 6pm CEST, will let you know the server for that as soon as I know. 18th is when we get to choose a server for release, I'm recommending caution so we can see which badass PvP guilds roll on which server and then we can avoid them :)

    I will hold off till release. Or maybe till the headstart if play.com sends me some codes. I will then bug you with questions about all the mystery acronyms other players will throw around.

    When I see Eloys I am thinking E-Lois. A bit along the lines of Lena and HighLord Elena. So I kind of like it.

    Although my actions may contradict it, I am looking forward to the Aion release.

    But after seeing the new screenshots, artwork and trailer I am really getting excited about Secret World. Even more than I was already. I am probably going to get disappointed later on, but for now I have a lovely giddy anticipation feeling. It is been a long time I started looking to a new game.

    That was as a response to your comment about Eloys making you think of Eloï.

    Just now I looked a little bit further than my nose, and found out it is actually Elyos. And that actually makes me think Helios.

    Too bad. I liked the Elena reference a lot more. It was probably some deeper thinking since I am (finally) busy reading the second book of the last chronicles at the moment.

    What I'm smelling is a faulty Personality Test :-)
    I.e. if you're not a power hungry illuminati by nature or a moral knight on his high horse, you'll default to the anarchistic Dragon.
    The test system should have had another option, a "mundane human / hapless victim / not-for-you / do some more research first" category but that might not work from a marketing perspective :-)

    /me looks shamfeaced about not having taken the time to show up at the MU forums yet.

    Then again, I'd be too afraid of posting information in unrelated threads :-P

    Thanks for the headsup though. I suspect you won't see me in-game until after official launch as the EU client installer is too out of date to update so I have to wait for the Disc version and hope it has a more recent installer than the downloadable one...

    The installer has just been patched a few times, you may want to consider downloading the new one, the disc is hopelessly out of date so perhaps torrent the client or download from somewhere like gamershell then patch via the client.

    I'll give it a try later tonight after work, but the "Download an Online Client other than the one in the e-mail" got me the US version before. It wasn't throguh Gamershell though, so maybe they host both US and EU versions. I don't have a torrent client on my pc.

    I downloaded my client by going to
    http://aion.patcher.ncsoft.com/liteinstaller/aion.exe and it did it's magic. It created two icon on my desktop. One for the ncsoft launcher and a proper Aion icon. But when I clicked on the Aion icon it wanted to start downloading the US version. I fixed that by changing the target to "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=AionEU. The EU at the end was missing. Maybe you have something similar ...

    The US client is fine, you just need to change settings in the NCSoft launcher, under advanced settings you can switch location to EU, My launcher currently states it's the US client, I've never had a problem.

    Yeah, I used that URL too. And Phè was kind enough to send it to me as well. I think the reason it didn't work for me was that I tried it several days after the link was sent to me. By that time the patch to disable Gameguard had come in making the file at the location out of date.

    I'm just dragging my feet. If I'd really wanted to I could have found out the tip Geek mentioned. Configuring the US client to work with EU account. I guess I'm still waiting for the "New Game" bug to bite. So far it hasn't yet.

    I do appreciate both your efforts though :-)
